Venue Tour Questions - The Springs Complete List

So, you’re touring wedding venues! Your wedding venue helps set the tone for your wedding day, so this is a very important decision. You need to be sure that you are considering all the possibilities and factors about the venue you choose. How do you know that you are getting the most bang for your buck? What amenities are you not considering when it comes to a wedding venue? Does the staff seem friendly and willing to help make your special day incredible? 

 

Since we are wedding venue experts, we wanted to share our knowledge and give you a list of venue tour questions to ask while touring!

 

General Venue Tour Questions:
-How many people can your venues accommodate?
-Is there convenient parking?
-Is the venue handicapped accessible?
-How many restrooms are there and where are they?
-Are there dressing rooms for the bridal party? What are the suite’s accommodations? Remember to check for a space for both the bride and groom.

Pro Tip #1: If it is important to you to not see your future spouse until the ceremony – consider things like how far apart they are in the venue.
Pro Tip #2: When it comes to the bridal suite – if you plan on getting ready there – remember to check how many mirrors and PLUGS you will have available. After all, you can’t do 12 bridesmaids’ hair and makeup on only 2 outlets.
Pro Tip #3: If you plan on taking pictures in the Bridal Suite, note how much storage there will be for bridesmaids’ bags and dresses- otherwise you could end up with a cluttered background.

-What is the rental time for the day of the event? Meaning: How long do you have venue access? Be sure that you are considering preparation time as well for your vendors.
-Are there overnight accommodations nearby?
-Are there any décor limitations?
-Can we use any caterer/decorator/coordinator we choose?
-Is there an all-inclusive option? (We have a Wedding Package here at The Springs that might be the perfect option for you!)
-How do we choose our desired floor plan? This is also a good time to see what sort of tables the venue has available to you. Meaning round vs. rectangle vs. sweetheart – get to know the options that they have.
-Is there an in-house sound system or does our DJ need to provide their own equipment? (Here at The Springs we have an in-house DJ option which makes it easy and convenient!) 
-Is there central heat and AC?
-How many visits do I have to come back and plan for my wedding?
-Does the staff seem ready and willing to help me plan my big day?


Questions about Venue Policies and Procedures:
-What are your bartending and alcohol policies? Be sure that you are considering the entire day, not just post-ceremony.
-Do I need to purchase special wedding permits or insurance?
-Do I need to hire security to be at my event?
-What are your policies on (insert your specific ideas here)
Pro Tip #4: There are tons of new ideas when it comes to wedding planning every day – if you have an idea, ask about it! This can include things like bringing your pets, fireworks, or – super fun – even if you wanted to set up a bounce house or a slip-n-slide!


Questions about the Day Of:
-Is there staff on-site on the day of the wedding?
-Not only is there a manager on site but does the venue provide a coordinator as well?
-What do we need to clean/pack ourselves?
-Do we need to set up tables and chairs ourselves?
-What happens if there is bad weather? If your venue has an outdoor site you want to utilize, be sure upfront that they will help you with a backup plan in the chance that there is a little rain on your wedding day.
-Is there a place for my vendors to hang out during the wedding? For example, depending on your catering – you might need a kitchen. 

-Is there a bar set up? Or will you need to hire a bartender with a portable bar?
-Does the venue service the restrooms and trash during the event?


Pricing + Additional Fees Questions:
-Is there a possibility of any additional charges before or after the event? Meaning: Extra hours fees, trash, damages – anything and everything they could charge you for – you need to know about it.
-Is there a setup breakdown or cleaning fee?
-Does anything we are seeing today cost extra? For example, The Springs offers some fabulous rental items that you would see if you were to tour any of our venues. Most managers should tell you upfront what is extra – but it is always good to double-check.
-How much is the damage deposit? When is it due?
Pro Tip #5: We find it helpful to read through this list of questions and decide what you WANT the answers to be. This is also a great way to figure out your venue deal-breakers. For example, bartending policies or handicap accessibility.
