When you begin your wedding planning process, it all starts with the same few steps no matter your timeline. First and foremost, establishing your budget is crucial. With your budget in mind, your next step will be establishing your guest list. Your guest count needs to be a reasonable number based on your budget. After all, each guest will (generally) have an appetizer, dinner, drinks, place setting, and wedding favor. If you have a strict budget, it can also be helpful to create your guest list in “tiers”. Tier one is very close immediate family or friends who can’t miss an invite. Tier two will be the extended family and friends you would love to celebrate with. Leaving tier three to the friends and family you would like to invite but would be alright if they had to be cut from the guest list. Creating tiers is helpful because it allows you to cut guests if need be once you start spending your budget.
After you have your guest list and budget, your overall theme, aesthetic, and color palette dreams are the next thing you need to narrow down. Check out our Pinterest page if you need some good inspo! This will help you get a vision of what you picture your wedding looking like and where you should start on your venue search. For example, a boho wedding matches the style of The Springs in Wallisville, a rustic wedding matches our Lodge styles, and a fairytale dream wedding goes hand in hand with our French Chateau at The Springs in Cypress! Once you book your date it’s time to send out your save the dates or links to your wedding website! After all, your guests will need time to ensure your date is free, acquire their attire, and submit an RSVP which will be helpful to you in the long run!
Your venue is booked, and your wedding party is set – it’s time to talk attire! Find your dress (or suit) and then let your bridal party know what you’d like them to wear. Wedding attire requires a certain amount of time to order, ship, and complete alterations so make sure to check with your dress shop for estimated shipping times and other details. While you are informing them, talk to your wedding party to see if they would be willing to help with any of your DIY projects! When you have a short timeline, you’ll need all hands on deck to get your décor done!
This is also the time to start booking your wedding vendors! You’ll want to search out caterers, DJs, photographers, or any other vendors for what you can’t do yourself. When it comes to caterers, remember to check your local restaurants and chains – they might have more flexibility to fit into your date than a catering company.
By this time, you should have all of your vendors booked and ready to go. Now you can turn your attention back to finalizing décor choices and other things like your rehearsal dinner and sending out invitations. Once you finalize these things, it’s time for some R and R with your fiancée (after all, you could probably use the break)!
Now that you’ve invited your guests and narrowed down every detail, you can take a big deep breath! The bulk of the planning is over with! But there are a few necessities you can’t forget about. Use this time to purchase and pick up your wedding bands. Check with your state and county to see your requirements regarding your marriage license and any other requirements to change your name. Additionally, remember to check in with your wedding party to see that they are on track.
Back to the business of finalizing the details and timelines for your special day. This includes your wedding day timeline, hair and makeup schedules, finalized guest list, floor plan, and seating chart. Share these lists with the appropriate vendors and your venue so everyone is on the same page. Get with your wedding party to see who would like to give a toast and assign them various duties that you will need help with on your wedding day. All of these assignments and final details are crucial to your wedding day running smoothly.
As your wedding day arrives it is time for you to take the back seat and enjoy the day you have anticipated for so long (or three months at least!) Take some deep breaths and have fun celebrating getting to marry the love of your life!
