Week Before Your Wedding

What to do the Week Before your Wedding

Your big day is almost here!! Finally!! No matter your ceremony style or size, there are always last-minute details that need to be handled. There are certain things that you definitely don’t want to forget before your wedding day. We’ve compiled a handy checklist of all the things you need to do and finalize the week before your wedding, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the best day of your life.

For Your Vendors
  • Check-in with your coordinator + vendors
  • Make sure your vendors have early access to the venue for delivery and set-up time
    • This is a must if you don’t want your guests to see any behind-the-scenes work. The Springs offers a 15-hour rental so your vendors will have ample time to do their thing 😉
  • Give your venue + caterer + bartender the final guest count and floor plan
  • Send timelines out to wedding party + coordinator + photographer and videographer
    • Timelines are very important when it comes to your wedding day – there is a lot going on and it is so easy to get lost in the shuffle. A timeline reinforces that you won’t forget about or miss anything you had planned + it helps vendors and the wedding party know where they need to be and when (which helps you out in the long run). The Knot has a great step-by-step guide on how to create your wedding timeline that could be of great use to you!
  • Create a desired shot list to the photographer
    • This shot list is anything you can dream of! Be sure to include specific shots that the photographer may not know you want like photographs of just your parents or grandparents! Especially if you have a photographer team – one can be photographing the venue or guests while you are having portraits done.

For Your Helpers
  • Confirm who will be giving speeches + when
    • Planning and assigning speeches ahead of time will give your parents and wedding party time to prepare + this will help to avoid any un-wanted drunk uncle speeches
  • Assign someone to take gifts home at the end of the wedding
  • Assign someone (trusted – like a parent) to handle any money or final balances that need to be paid at the end of the reception
    • It is a great idea to have all the checks written + gratuity in an envelope beforehand to make this easy – all they will have to do is deliver it!
  • Assign someone to handle getting lunch on the wedding day
    • because no one needs a hangry wedding party – or worse a hangry bride or groom!

Pack + Prepare
  • Prepare any welcome goodies for your guests
  • Wrap and arrange the gifts and goodies for your parents + wedding party
  • Gather together a wedding day emergency kit
    • Include things like a needle and thread, makeup wipes, bobby pins, bandaids, tide pens, extra earrings, hairspray, deodorant, feminine products, fashion tape, safety pins – anything and everything you think you might need. It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it
  • Pack for your honeymoon
    • If your honeymoon is right after your wedding, you should pack your bags in advance. Even if you aren’t heading straight to the airport – you don’t want to spend the night after your wedding packing.
  • Organize and pack wedding décor
    • Organization is key. You can sort your décor by item type or by table numbers. This will help make you or your coordinator’s life so much easier when you get to your venue
  • Gather items your photographer will need for flat lays + detail photos
    • Include things like ribbon, save the dates or invitations, cute ring boxes, your perfumes and jewelry for the day, and vow books. These photos will help speed along the process for your photographer and they always make for amazing photos

For You
  • Finalize and practice vows
  • Write a letter for your fiancé to read before walking down the aisle
  • Get your marriage license
    • Times will vary by state and county – but generally, this can be about a week out. PRO TIP: Check with your officiant to see if they are going to submit it to the county + if you will need witnesses to sign
  • Try on your attire
    • Remove makeup and jewelry to avoid snags and stains on your dress. This is the best time to practice bustling your dress so you aren’t spending hours trying to figure it out on your wedding night.
  • Pamper yourselves
    • Donna + Tom were on to something when they said “treat-yo-self”. Go get a massage, mani-pedi, spray tan (3-4 days before the wedding) Grooms – get a haircut and a fancy shave. You want to be feeling and looking your best this week.
  • Practice your first dance
  • Go on one last date as fiancés
    • Enjoy your time in this chapter together because it is about to end. Thankfully, you are jumping into the even more exciting chapter of marriage!
  • Drink lots of water
    • Hydration is literally the best skin care out there! If you want that dewy fresh bridal glow water water water is key!!
  • HAVE FUN!
    • While weddings can be stressful – you should enjoy and take in every moment. After all, you are so close to getting married to the love of your life!!!
