Rainforest reverie: the dulin wedding

Michael and Taylor’s story began with a simple compliment online — and a conversation that quickly turned into something lasting. After navigating distance and deployment, they gathered 75–100 of their closest friends and family at Rockwall Manor on November 1, 2025 to celebrate the next chapter. With the support of The Springs Wedding Package—including catering, DJ, coordination, and linens—they were able to focus on bringing their vision to life without juggling countless vendors. From a surprise proposal under fairy lights to a candlelit reception filled with tropical greens and 700 glowing candles, their wedding blended timeless elegance with a bold, romantic edge.

the proposal

Just a few months after returning home from deployment in South Korea, Michael pulled off a surprise Taylor never saw coming. Under the guise of a fancy dinner date on January 17, 2024, he secretly coordinated with her parents, best friend, and family friends to set up a proposal on her dad’s property. A perfectly timed phone call about an “open gate” led them to stop and check on things, with Taylor genuinely worried about cattle getting out and rushing Michael because she thought they were late for reservations. Instead, he slowly drove her toward a clearing in the trees where fairy lights glowed around a sign that read “you + me.” In that quiet moment, he told her he loved her for the first time since coming home—words that carried deep meaning after everything they had walked through together. There were no dinner reservations waiting, only a house full of loved ones ready to celebrate the biggest yes of their lives.

planning the big day

Taylor knew exactly what she wanted when it came to their venue. After plenty of research, she narrowed it down to two options: The Springs Rockwall Manor and one they never even toured. The second they pulled up to the Manor, the decision was made. It matched the picture she had been building in her mind from the very beginning. Choosing The Springs Wedding Package made planning feel far more streamlined, with catering, DJ, bar,  coordination, linens, and even hair & makeup all working together seamlessly under one roof. Dress shopping was just as meaningful. At Bridal Boutique Lewisville, surrounded by her mom, aunt, both grandmothers, mother-in-law, and best friend, she found her ceremony gown during a surprise trunk show for the Australian designer she had hoped for. She still calls it one of her favorite memories from the entire engagement season. Later, she chose a second reception dress at Cowboy Bride in Austin—a completely different mini that felt playful and perfectly suited for the party ahead. She paired her ceremony look with deep burgundy Christian Louboutin heels and changed into silver-soled kitten heels for the reception. Throughout the process, she poured her creativity into florals and décor, building out a dedicated Pinterest board and working closely with her florist through countless calls and meetings until every detail came together exactly as she imagined.

before the vows

Before the vows, the Manor felt still in that quiet, anticipatory way only wedding mornings do. Sunlight filtered through the windows as Taylor stepped into her gown, her parents close by, pearls layered alongside the earrings her mother-in-law once wore on her own wedding day. Down the hall, Michael adjusted his cuff links and straightened his bow tie, surrounded by his groomsmen in classic black tuxedos. There were soft laughs, a few deep breaths, and one especially emotional first look with her dad—a moment heavy with pride, gratitude, and the reality of the special events ahead. Outside, bridesmaids in dark, moody tones gathered their bouquets while the ceremony space waited, florals perfectly placed, ready for the two of them to meet at the aisle.

a moment in time

The ceremony reflected the refined side of Taylor’s vision. She wanted the space to feel timeless, moody, and romantic while still remaining sophisticated and elevated. Structured florals framed the altar in soft neutrals with hints of burgundy and plum, echoing the elegance of her ceremony gown and complementing the rich fall palette chosen for the day. Guests dressed in deep, dramatic tones that blended seamlessly with the overall aesthetic, creating a setting that felt cohesive from every angle. The design was polished yet warm, allowing the focus to remain exactly where it belonged as Michael and Taylor stood together and exchanged their vows.

the celebration

If the ceremony felt refined and composed, the reception embraced Taylor’s love of drama and romance. The space transformed into a candlelit rainforest, filled with tropical greens and nearly 700 real candles casting a warm glow across black linens and gold accents. Ceremony florals were moved inside, their soft neutrals and rich fall tones blending effortlessly with the lush greenery. Personal chocolates wrapped in ivory ribbon with gold name plates rested on each setting, and guests arrived dressed in deep, moody hues that complemented the atmosphere and made the entire room feel cohesive.

Meaningful details were woven throughout the night, including a family prayer book brought by Michael’s mother that holds the wedding dates and signatures of generations before them. As the evening unfolded, guests gathered around a champagne tower before enjoying a late-night s’mores bar from The Springs Catering, the perfect cozy finish to an already unforgettable celebration. By the time the dance floor filled, the mood shifted from romantic to electric. What began as one groomsman jokingly removing his shirt but keeping his suspenders and bow tie on quickly turned into a domino effect, with the entire group joining in and Michael following suit during the final song. Taylor spent the night exactly how she hoped she would, surrounded by family and friends, celebrating, laughing, and fully present in the moment.

advice from the couple

Looking back, Taylor wishes she had paused more to take photos with guests and spent extra time enjoying their Photo Booth. The day moves quickly, and she would have loved a few more captured moments with the people who filled the room. Her biggest advice to future couples is to book vendors early so the final month is focused on small details instead of major decisions. Hire people you trust and then allow them to carry out the plan you built together. She strongly recommends having a day-of coordinator, sharing that having coordination included in their package made the entire day feel calm and manageable. Because of that support, she and Michael were able to stay present, celebrate fully, and soak in every part of their wedding day with the people who mean the most to them.
