Going the distance: the wedding of Samantha & Wazir

Samantha and Wazir met at her best friend’s wedding, which feels fitting considering how their own story unfolded. Their relationship and engagement took place long distance, across two different countries, with wedding planning squeezed into late-night FaceTime calls. Before any plans were set in stone, Wazir surprised Samantha with an intimate proposal disguised as a photo session with her mom. The thoughtfulness and intention behind their engagement foreshadows their time ahead.

Wedding planning followed a similar rhythm. Venues were toured virtually, details were reviewed through a screen, and decisions were made thousands of miles apart as everything came together in real time. When they toured Wallisville, the connection was immediate. “We both fell in love instantly when we saw this one,” Samantha shared. From there, the vision started to fall into place. They wanted the day to feel fancy but personal, elevated without feeling overdone. Samantha leaned into DIY details, making sure everything felt intentional and polished. Sage green became the foundation of their color palette simply because she loved it, regardless of season.

Many of the details were created by Samantha herself, including the stationery and signage, but one stood out above the rest. Each guest received a handwritten thank-you note that doubled as their seating card, a small but meaningful way to show how much it meant to them that friends and family traveled to celebrate. The moment Samantha remembers most is seeing Wazir waiting at the top of the aisle. After months of planning from a distance, that walk made everything else fade away. Looking back, there are small things they laugh about, like forgetting to take photos in some of her favorite spots, but those moments only add to the memory. Their wedding wasn’t about perfection. It was about intention, patience, and finally being in the same place after doing so much of life apart. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Aiyub!
