DJ Set-ups

Where to put your dj setup at the springs

Your DJ is an important part of your wedding celebration because they will set the tone for your entire evening. You may not think it, but their place in your venue can affect your wedding vibe as well. A DJ setup might be the toughest to decide where to place in your venue. Before deciding their placement, remember to take into account the kinds of equipment your DJ is using. For instance, some DJs have slim and modern speakers, while others may have a whole booth with mixing equipment. Does their equipment match your vision for your reception? Do you want them front and center leading the party? Or raised above you and your guests to give off a club vibe? Whatever your motives are, we have some solutions! Keep reading to learn our favorite spots for DJs at The Springs!

Ranch Style Venues

Angleton – Denton – Edmond – Katy – Lake Conroe – Magnolia – McKinney – Norman – Rockwall – Tulsa – Weatherford

At each of The Springs’s classic ranch-style venues, our most common (and our favorite) spot for the DJ is front and center on the stage! Our friends over at Southland DJ’s gave us their take on the stage; “it’s very convenient and provides plenty of space for the DJ.  In fact, we can even fit our DJ and photo booth on the stage, saving you room on the dance floor.” After dinner, this setup gives your guests the feeling of being at a party or club, plus, who doesn’t want a bigger dance floor?!

However, If you have other plans for your stage décor, the front corner of the ranch, next to the stage is always an amazing option. This keeps your DJ’s presence eminent throughout the night, while still leaving room for décor and other detail tables to shine.

Manor & Tuscan Style Venues

Rockwall – McKinney – Angleton – Weatherford

The Springs Manors and Tuscany Hill venues have a copious amount of options when it comes to your DJ setup. These halls all have a grand staircase and an indoor wrap-around balcony that overlooks the main floor. Our favorite spot to place your DJ will be in the corner of the staircase. This spot will help your DJ’s equipment stay safe while making your DJ feel a little more personable.

“The manors are a unique venue.  They don’t have a stage like the ranches and they don’t have the super huge feel of a lodge or an estate-style venue. The best place for a DJ setup at the manors is…well…anywhere!  Sound carries great in these more intimate spaces and the DJ is never too far from the dance floor.  The only thing I wouldn’t recommend would be putting the DJ on the second floor (in fact, I would strongly suggest you NOT do this). Having the DJ on the second floor presents a number of problems that can be disastrous to your reception. Your DJ needs to be placed in a location that allows him or her to see the hall well.  Having great wedding party introductions can be difficult if the DJ can’t see the wedding party!” (Tony, Southland DJs General Manager)

Lodge Style Venues

Denton – Alvarado

Our Lodge-style venues are incredibly spacious, so it can be a tough choice when it comes to the placement of your DJ setup. We find that many of our couples like to place their DJ in either of the vestibules on the sides of the venue. Doing this will allow your DJ to be in the center of the room, without taking up dance space. These are also great areas to set up photo booths or any other unique equipment that your DJ provides!

If you desire a less hidden option for your DJ, we recommend towards the back of the hall by the fireplace. We see this frequently at our lodges and it makes for a lively reception. Many couples will also make fabulous use of The Springs rental items to pull this look off. If you place our LOVE marquee letters in front of your DJ booth it can elevate the look. Additionally, it provides an amazing backdrop for all of your first dance photos!

Pro Tip:

When booking your DJ, be sure to ask about what additional equipment they have such as their table and cords, speakers, or photo booth. Then, get the dimensions of the equipment you plan on using. Doing this will prevent you from overcrowding your DJ between too much décor or other tables. “If you are still having trouble deciding where to put your DJ, ask them! A quick email or phone call can save you a lot of headaches. One of the things that you should be getting when you hire a professional DJ is their experience…so use it!” (Tony, Southland DJs) No matter where you decide to put your DJ’s set up it is sure to be a wonderful celebration of love and marriage!
